Spirit of the East: The Art of Oriental Fusion

A dialogue between Oud, Tabla, and Saxophone
Sunday, September 20 / 8 PM

Spirit of the East
The Art of Oriental Fusion

A contemporary ensemble transforming original compositions through voice, oud, tabla, saxophone, and improvisation.

Spirit of the East is a contemporary musical collaboration built around the original compositions of Hooman Shirali, bringing together the colors of Eastern music with contemporary sounds, improvisation, and the individual expression of each artist.

For this special edition, Yana Mann joins the ensemble as a special collaborator, developing her own vocal interpretation of Hooman’s melodic material. Her soprano voice adds a new dimension to the musical world of the oud, tabla, and saxophone, offering a different perspective on the original compositions.

Here, the music moves between tradition and contemporary expression, where Eastern melodies, improvisation, jazz colors, and classical vocal expression come together to create a distinctive musical language.

The performance features Hooman Shirali, composer and oud player; Sandu, tabla player; Kadir, saxophonist; and Yana Mann, soprano vocalist and special collaborator for this edition.

Spirit of the East invites audiences to experience a living musical dialogue between the East and the contemporary world a music that moves beyond cultural and genre boundaries, taking shape through collaboration, improvisation, and the individual expression of its artists.
